The month of Sawan (Shravan) is highly auspicious for devotees of Lord Shiva. Observing Sawan Somvar Vrat (Monday fasts) is believed to bring blessings, good health, and spiritual growth. But to receive the full spiritual benefit, it’s essential to follow proper rituals and guidelines.

✅ Do’s While Observing Sawan Somvar Vrat

 

  • Wake up early (preferably before sunrise) and take a bath.
  • Wear clean, preferably white or saffron-colored clothes.
  • Clean your home and place of worship before starting puja.
  • Offer milk, water, belpatra, dhatura, fruits, and white flowers to Lord Shiva.
  • Chant “Om Namah Shivaya” or recite Shiva Chalisa/Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra throughout the day.
  • Keep fast from sunrise to sunset. You may consume fruits, milk, and water.
  • Visit a Shiva temple if possible, or perform Jalabhishek at home.
